Apple revealed WWDC26 dates and even mentioned AI directly in the announcement.

WWDC26 is sure to be a surprising event filled with AI

An in-person event is being held on June 8 for journalists and developers to watch the pre-recorded video we've all become accustomed to. We'll obviously see news about iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27.

The unusual thing about this date announcement is Apple's inclusion of a single phrase: "WWDC26 will spotlight incredible updates for Apple platforms, including AI advancements..."

For the WWDC25 announcement, Apple made no specific mentions of what the conference would entail beyond "advancements in Apple software." The mention of "AI" at all in the 2026 announcement shouldn't go unnoticed.

We're still waiting on Apple to reveal its initial rollout of its revamped Apple Foundation Models powering Siri and Apple Intelligence. These models were rebuilt with Gemini training and more advanced technologies.

While the spring relaunch won't be revolutionary, it’ll be a welcome step forward. I expect we'll see more proactive AI tools like what were shown during WWDC 2024 – those are table stakes at this point.

Artificial intelligence as a whole is still a mess created by grifters, false promises, and mass theft. The shift to ad monetization, pornography, and desperation like Grammarly's hallucinating editors show we're nowhere near a steady state in the AI industry.

Even as everyone cries that Apple is "behind," I expect it'll be one of the last companies standing as the bubble collapses. The slow and steady, cautious approach will prove to be the right one.

WWDC 2026 will likely be a very interesting event. I don't think any of us are prepared for what might be revealed this time around, and that's exciting!
