Ghost on the Fediverse

I use Ghost to write my little blog here solely because around the time I started the blog, they announced they would integrate with the Fediverse. I've enabled the beta that attaches my blog to a Fediverse account.
Sadly, my account name is silly, but I'll change it when the beta allows. For now, you can follow it at @index@www.hilli.tech.
Yeah, I'll remove that www eventually.
I noticed my account profile picture was blank. After digging through my settings, I found I never had an icon set for the blog. Now, I don't have a logo of any kind, though I suppose I should commission one at some point.
For now, I opened Affinity Designer, set a 1080p square with a black background, then typed "HT" in SF Rounded font. Yep, that's it.
No idea if my future logo should be these letters or a doodle of my face, a la Merlin Mann, or just some other nonsense. For now, simple is best.
My renewal dates are coming up for this blog. It'll cost me about $200 to keep it running for another year. It's been an interesting experiment, but after a year, I'm still not sure what it should be.
I suppose I should keep pushing and think of ways I can express my opinions outside of AppleInsider. The problem is that many of my opinions are still valid as possible articles for my job. I want this place to be a bigger insight on tech than I feel I am able to provide over there, but it's hard to say what that means.
I'm excited that this tiny blog can contribute to the open web with a Fediverse account. I look forward to activating a connection to Bluesky too at some point.
Now, I've never set up a newsletter or subscriptions because I don't want that kind of set up. So, I've never been able to see how many people read this blog. If you're reading this and have a Mastodon account, feel free to follow, like posts, and use that as a method of leaving comments on the articles I write here.
Maybe if enough people do that, I'll be more motivated to make this more of a thing.
