Happy No More Kings Day

I feel conflicted even writing today. Our democracy has been dealt blow after blow in recent months, and I'm truly afraid for what the future might hold. But I do believe we can get through this.
It's currently a holiday and tomorrow is my 34th birthday, so I'm not exactly brimming with time to write a post right this second, but here's a quick one. These might be a bit more brief in the next two or three weeks depending on time, but I'll try to still post something.
Oh, and thanks everyone for totally missing that I said last week was June 20. Fixed that. Oh, it's July 4th of course, but I'm not putting it in the title this time.
Don't believe the DOOM™
A report came out earlier in the week about Apple executives calling its Apple Intelligence inferior and allegedly seeking deals with OpenAI or Anthropic to replace the backend of Siri. Yeah, no. I'm not buying this "people familiar with the matter" narrative.

While that gets the clicks and drama stirred, I think the reality is all the more intriguing. It seems Apple is asking third-party AI companies to develop specialized AI that will run on Private Cloud Compute – which is huge.
Instead of abandoning Apple Intelligence, which is absurd, Apple is strengthening their position by creating the only platform that gives users choice over any and all the AI tools. And as an unprecedented bonus, they're all operating with the same privacy and security ideals that power iPhone.
Really, that's the story we should be focusing on.
My political writing
I just wanted to give myself a pat on the back here. I hate the world we've found ourselves in, and while it's not my favorite thing to write about, I feel it is very important to get the truth out there when so much of journalism seems to be losing that.
So, here's some of my political-adjacent pieces you should check out if you haven't. Let me know if you like how I cover these things.
- Yet another TikTok ban extension
- Trump Phone isn't made in America
- Apple's DOJ antitrust case will go forward
- The penguins still haven't paid any tariffs, but Apple has
- Random whims abuse constitutional powers for addictive social platform
Another big birthday
Yep, short and sweet this week. I saw F1 last week in theaters and loved it. Get more detail on that in the AppleInsider Podcast.
Speaking of Apple TV+, I'm really interested in the new show called I'm Glad My Mom Died.
Stay safe out there, and stay hopeful. We'll get through this madness.
