HilliTech's Newsletter: Time off
A birthday present that arrived broken

This newsletter is going to be a little different because I haven't taken the time to gather up some interesting links, nor do I have a topic in mind. I took a week off daily posts for my birthday, which I ended up extending into this week, if you haven't noticed.

No, I haven't given up on the blog. Honestly, I don't feel like I have much to say outside of what I've already published at AppleInsider or said on the podcast. I needed a little extra time away from the blog to recharge.

I think it is important to not overdo this thing. I'd love to have daily posts, which is still my goal, but I'm not going to force myself to write when there's nothing to write. I won't try to repeat someone else's takes as my own, or try to generate clickbait to drive engagement.

This blog, if anything, is a place where I can be me outside of work and social media. It's a place I pay for so it can be wholly my own with no algorithm, no pay incentive, nothing. Simply put, unless this place becomes a significant portion of my income, which isn't really the goal here, I'm not going to go out of my way to post regularly.

I need to ensure that I don't end up burning myself out. I like treating this space as my personal Reddit, Twitter, and Instagram rolled into one. I do think it would benefit from shorter posts or even posts that are a single link. That might require some reformatting here, but that's a project for another time.

Heck, I don't even know how many people even read this weekly newsletter or the weekday posts. It doesn't matter though, I'll keep posting even if it's zero. That's kind of the point.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend. If you do enjoy hearing my thoughts here, feel free to let me know on Bluesky or Mastodon. Of course, this blog has the ability to have comments too, though no one uses them (also fine).

I'll be back with more soon, once there's something I'd like to expand on in a post. Until then, I'll be working hard at my day job and trying to climb out of this little rut I've entered recently.

Oh, and don't worry. There's nothing wrong physically or mentally. I can just tell when my brain needs a little room to breathe.

Thanks as always for reading.
