Where in the world is the iPhone Fold?
iPhone Air was said to be the starting point for iPhone Fold

It is only a few days away from Apple's WWDC 2026, and there have been zero hardware leaks of the iPhone Fold. I still remain skeptical about it releasing in 2026.

Yes, this is a republished piece from May 21, but we continue to see conflicting stories about the iPhone Fold and its production, but little else. I shared a similar post in February, and I expected some kind of revelation by now, but here we are.

One rumor suggests Apple's hinge design will drive the industry, only hours separated from a different rumor about hinge issues. Neither of which contained a shaky Sasquatch-style photo of a prototype on a table, to my dismay.

Unless Apple has become incredibly good at containing hardware leaks, I'm leaning towards production delays. Even the 2027 iPhone has entered production ahead of the iPhone Fold.

Most recently, we saw a dummy unit that Ice Universe tried to pass as a prototype, when it was actually a screenshot from a video posted elsewhere. The leaks on this product are so bleak, even leakers are having to make things up.

Even still, leakers like Fixed Focus Digital are still saying a September launch is happening. The same leaker is highly optimistic about Apple's liquid metal hinge too.

There's still time, but it's vanishing fast. If production can't ramp through July, there won't be anything to sell to customers in September/October, but the industry is seemingly holding its breath for Apple's entry into the space.

Time will tell, but the evidence is mounting that this is a troubled device. Perhaps the first act of John Ternus as CEO will be to kill this pipe dream based on a fad technology that will soon be superseded by spatial computing.

On the other hand, I'd love to love Apple's foldable. It would be amazing if it were an iPad mini instead of an iPhone. As an iPad, I could justify it, but my iPhone needs to have the best camera system, and that won't be the iPhone Fold.
